Default I'm done with pt10 going back to 9 need some info

I've had pure hell with pt10 crashes errors etc. 003 and a iMac with 16gb of ram never had a problem before 10 native/le or whatever the hell they call it now. I wish I could have my money back. I know thats not gonna happen.

But I'm going back to 9. I have about 5 songs done in 10. Are they gonna be backwards compatible etc. any suggestions would help. I've never bashed pro tools I've used it for 10 years. But This is unacceptable I've never had this many bugs. What's going on with this company

Sorry to hear about your frustrations Drew. Pro Tools 10 is of course backwards compatible. You will have to save your session as a copy to a previous compatible version as explained in previous posts but once that is done you should be able to open things up in PT 9 - except of course for things that did not yet exist in PT9

But anyways - It's a bit sad to see you give up on PT 10. This is not likely what you are going to like to hear but I think you are blaming the wrong end of your system there. I would be willing to stick my hand into a fire and state that in all likelihood whichever issues you are seeing (except for a couple of known bugs) are going to be related to your system and very likely even to your OS.

There are in the meantime THOUSANDS of Pro Tools 10 systems, native - HD - with varieties of hardware attached to it happily purring along 24/7 in the world.
Think about it. Why would all those systems be happy and yours isn't ?

I think - providing that all your system components are compatible with Pro Tools 10 of course - you need to persist and get Pro Tools 10 up and running like it can and should.
If you are unable to do so yourself - get someone to do it for you who knows how to do so. Things start with a clean install of your OS. From scratch yes. No excuses.

And fwiw - I would strongly suggest you do the same if you go back to PT 9 as well.

Chris

Chris i respect your opinion. and i understand you must follow the company line. but there are multiple threads on here and hundreds of post. regarding the same issues. with install failures, buffer setting errors. problems with the click, various crashes. etc.

Ive been through pt training i have a music business degree. although music is now my hobby. I run a business and im no avid but i do ok.
This is without a doubt the the buggiest version of pt in years.

if you and this company can't admit that. then i doubt i make any future purchases from you. my system is more than compatible with the system requirements that are stated. And on top of that, i did a fully clean os install when i upgraded. stop passing the buck and fix the bugs

You are correct sir. We don't want to hear that it is our fault. Thanks Drew Blue. I am also downgrading back to 9 this afternoon. PT 10 needs a rewrite SO THAT ALL PREVIOUS USERS OF 9 CAN CROSSGRADE and maintain the stability that was advertised to us when taking the leap to PT 10. This has been a real bummer MANY MANY users are angry/furious about this.

Drewblue, Are you using Internal iMac Hard Drive for your sessions, or External....I Use on Both Sys Mac and PC, Pro Tools 10, without Issues. at the first times I use the Internal hard drive on my Mac Book Pro end 2011, I have Lot of Issues, but right now I Use External USB hard Drive without any problem...

Chris
Thousands of systems??????????? there is already 40+ people on here with this freeze issue and thats just the people who know of this site. I used PT for about 2 years before hearing about this site. So if a thousand systems are running fine there must be at least 300 that arent!!!!!!!

My system runs fine with pro tools 8HD and 9HD but not with 10HD. i have not changed my PC components or any hardware. There is obviously a bug in the software. Its easy to blame the user or their components or their OS. I feel this is not an appropriate answer.

Chris are you saying that your guys are not working on a fix for this bug?????

I must say i love this quote you gave

"I think - providing that all your system components are compatible with Pro Tools 10 of course - you need to persist and get Pro Tools 10 up and running like it can and should.

"get someone to do it for you who knows how to do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!" this is what i say to all the children at the school i work at when they come and ask me for help!!!!!!

When i had an issue with V9 waves i emailed them they emailed me a few solutions to try but no luck. Then they rung me in the UK on my mobile from the US and remote accessed my PC to help find the fault. this is what you call CUSTOMER SERVICE not say "find someone who knows what their doing do it"

Im using a glyph external drive. ive been through almost every troubleshooting scenario there is. ive done multiple daisy chain reversals etc. i do roots americanna country type music. and i use the system like a tape machine. a big session for me is 16 tracks. using alot of outboard. this thing should not crash with one instrument track of superior drummer when im writing songs.

although i have not posted alot on this forum.
Im no noob to pt. ive read multiple books, watch training tutorials from groove3 for fun all the time. i paid $4k+ for a two week training session with shawn simpson and the late great roger nichols.

At one time i had full plans of doing this for a living. But started another business that pays alot better.
This is the first time ive bashed this company. ive stood up to people for years on the pro tools is evil b.s. it was a great system. these are bugs.
