Default Pro Tools Is lagging, please help!

Heres my setup.

I have a Digi 002 running PT 6.1 LE

I have a custom built computer running XP pro.
My computer is an AMD 3500+
I have 2 Gigs of Ram
3 hard drives

When i first started this set up worked great, now the computer is lagging big time, i cant run 4 plug ins without it stopping playback, I changed the play back engine and still nothing, i changed buffer size, dae playback and everything ,still the same. I cant even bounce to disc without it saying "cant handle".

Any advice???

Thank you in advance.

ZachD009,
Hi there,
Two things comes to mind..
Over time there could be other applications and their associated services running on your PC, taking away processing power from PT.
And the more likely one : your drives are becoming close to full and/or too fragmented. PT takes longer to read off the disk.
BTW..I'd strongly suggest to update your version...6.4 is very solid, and 7.x has many added features and considered to be stable by most of us..

good luck,

this might sound crazy but when my protools is lagging i save a copy of the session to my system drive and run it from there, then it runs fine. try this.

What specific errors are you getting?

Have you tried all the steps in the Win XP/ Pro Tools 6.x General Troubleshooting thread.

yes i tried it,

heres what happening: when i run more than like 3 plug ins it says something about removing RTAS plug ins or upping the CPU limit (which is maxed out at 85%).

When i try to bounce to disc it says "bouncer cannot keep up" with a number like -9132 i think, and than it just stops. any advice would help.

ALso is there a way to allocate my memory to pro tools it says i only have 13mb allocated under the menu where you change the settings. ( i have 2 gigs)

What processes can i delete from the list (when i hit CTRL ALT DEL) without ending my windows session.

ANY help is VERY MUCH appreciated.. Thank you again!!!
