MIDISPORT 8X8 input problem
Hi,
I'm having a problem with my midisport 8x8, protools doesn't seem to see incoming midi data from any of the inputs from any source, either keyboards or effects. The 002's own midi input works fine and I can use it to control the other keyboards on the 8x8 interface using it's outputs. The input lights light up when I use them but the signal don't seem to get to the computer, I've tried reinstalling the drivers but that doesn't do anything. Has anyone else had this problem before? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave |

Re: MIDISPORT 8X8 input problem
Its not what you want to hear, but ill say it:
The M-Audio Midi products really suck. I ran them for years thinking that was just the way Midi worked.... After a lot of problems iwth my Midiman 8x8 going in and out, and working one day, not the next, i finally bought a MOTU Midi8x8.... worked out of the box. No problems, much for user friendly, and is always there. The ONLY Midiman ive never had a prob with was a 2x2.

Re: MIDISPORT 8X8 input problem
I have an 8x8 that works great.
But I have had other MAudio USB/MIDI gear malfunction and just disappear forever(Radium49), so I wouldn't rule out a faulty unit and/or drivers. You could also try a different USB cable. You might also want to make sure you've got up to date drivers. There was a post sometime recently with a guy who was having trouble with the 8x8 that turned out to be just a disconnected USB cable. There was also another guy recently having trouble with a radium, and MAudio tech support helped him sort it out, so you might want to contact them.
