Default The little things that make your recordings better

I ordered a JAN Phillips tube for my NTK yesterday, and for some odd reason, I can't wait until it gets here. Maybe it's because that, for a comparatively small price, I can improve the mic's ability to capture what I want it to, resulting in better results.

Don't you just love that? When you can spend just a few dollars and make some great improvements to overall sound. On another post, I asked about pres, then AD, and possible models to go with, and it's going to cost bank. Oh well..

So, what have you spent a little on and it made a huge difference?

New England Coffee Company french roast, milled to a fine power, and a good french press.

Hmm....I have to agree. A fine cup of coffee speaks volumes in getting a better mix. After 11pm, it's onto a fine scotch and european cigarettes.
Good converters and monitors can be great, too.

A good night of sleep or a nap just before mixing, recording.

Hey Street, if you are at your Palos Verdes location, you could use a Slurpee. Its probably damn hot there. I know it is here in San Diego...

Can you give me the detailz as I too have an NTK and would like look into refining it as you currently are.

Thanx!

Hey GapeOne

I went online to The Tube Store , went by number type (6922), and chose the Jan Phillips. It's not very expensive, and there are others there that run $150 or so...mine was $17.95. Still, I've read a few good things about it, and suspect that my Sovtek has gone bad, so I probably can't do much worse. I'll probably get it tomorrow, so I can swap it and post again on the results.
