Default Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 Demo doesn't start

Howdy,

I got a demo copy of Pro Tools M-Powered with my new sound card. I haven't been able to get it to run on either of my windows installs. It crashes with a Visual C++ Runtime Error.

I've tried all of the tips I can find from the internet. The tech support tool and the updates both say something along the lines of,
"The installer cannot locate a valid installation of Pro Tools on this system."

I have tried uninstalling, deleting the H:\Program Files\Digidesign, and H:\Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign folders, as well as running the installer with -fix, and running the PT Uninstaller before installing.

I've tried running it on my 'clean' version of XP. (It is installed straight from an XP SP3 install disk, without updates other than for the drivers of my system.)

I've tried removing all unnecessary devices from the system (by unplugging them).

I've updated the iLok/PACE drivers, though I don't think that would affect the demo version.

I found a debug log in the ExceptionLogFiles folder in Pro Tools:
Code:

Did you re-format when you did the clean install of XP?

Default Re: Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 Demo doesn't start

The other install is on the partition "XP 2". Which wasn't formatted until I installed XP, but no, I didn't reformat the harddrives when I tried Pro Tools on the other install of windows.

Thanks,
Ricky26

EDIT: Reformatting also isn't really an option, I may try unplugging non OS-critical drives later.
