audiosuite naming?
we use the handy-dandy numbering system of protools (audio 1_01, _02, _03....) to manage all our takes of dialog and singing, and often need to refer to a certain file number based off of a log to find just what we're looking for, or to tell the director "yes this is the one you liked in the session."
HOWEVER, as soon as we do any audiosuite processing on the files, the numbering gets all screwy. i can't seem to deduce how its re-numbering. sometimes its completely fresh numbers, starting at 01 and going up, sometimes it numbers vertically, sometimes horizontally, sometimes it preserves the ENTIRE previous file name and then just adds -PiSh etc etc etc. it may be following some pre set algorithms, but they are undetectable by my feeble mind. can someone either a) tell me what system pt uses so we can learn to love it or b) tell me how i can force protools to number like I want it to? i've tried various settings in the audiosuite window (by region list, by playlist, etc) with no improvement in pattern or consistency... thanks! -a- |

Re: audiosuite naming?
I think that the numbering system has to do with the length of the name of the file being processed. If audiosuite has to trunkate some of your original file name in order to add the "-TCEX" extension to it, it may restart the numbering from _01. I haven't tested this though.
