Default Re: Why do Loudness analysers render in Audiosuite?

Both Nugen´s LM Correct and Izotope´s RX Loudness Control, when used in Audiosuite, analyse the selected file without creating a new file, unless you choose to render to the desired target.

The op said that he opened the Nugen VISLm in Audiosuite. It´s not meant to be used as a loudness correction tool in the same way as the LMC. What it can do when used in Audiosuite, is to quickly analyse in non real time a selection, then let´s you adjust that part on the timeline, analyse it again and if suits the specs you´re looking after, you can insert that reading onto the VILSm that you´re using to check your mix output in real time.
Notice that a yellow icon with an arrow pointing down shows on the bottom of the LMC GUI in RTAS and another one shows pointing up in the realtime VILSm. You need to have both windows open to check that.
That allows you to insert the readings at the same section in time of the selection, on the history graph of the realtime VILSm.

In terms of analysing speed, both LMC and RX LC have identical performances.

The Pro Limiter is a processor plug-in, but because of the Loudness meter part it should have separate Analyse and Render buttons. My recommendation is the Nugen Audio LM Correct 2. This has separate Analyse and Render buttons.

The Render button does nothing, by design. It can only analyze.
Correction : does nothing useful, the Render will create a new file, but without any changes.

Do you have any suggestion for spectrum analysis within ProTools without rendering to an audio file ?
Thanks

Blue Cat's FreqAnalyst 2 , it's free.
Preview will analyze in real-time. (Render is as unnecessary as in the Avid Pro Limiter).

Izotope Insight plug-in also has an analyze function. Prior to the Izotope meter I used the Dolby plug-in and just hit undo!

Yes.
Correction : one can hit "Render" and it will be faster-than-realtime. But it creates a new whole file. So, again : undo.
