Yep, PT has never been 100% friendly with that. I guess it would be, if it was Mac-only, but because Digidesign/Avid has had to keep it cross-platform, they apparently have never been 100% interested in CoreAudio. If they were, PT would playback together with iTunes and whatever, but they took the easy way out and demand exclusive access. Not that this is an issue for me, but still...

This could take "UP TO" a year ..., Otherwise it'll be a real bug fest if you switch OS too early.
All third party apps working here. As you can see by my sig I have lot and the sig does not have room for everything. Every last app works just as it did on Yosmite. That includes iLok, Waves central etc. I am just giving my experience thus far. Make sure you do a backup before you try. Compared to previous releases this has to be one of the best. I know it is not widely approve yet but as it stands it's all good on my system. I'm looking forward to the final release.

It's working fine here. The stand alone and the plugin.

Default Re: When can we expect HD Core Audio to be fixed for Mac OS X El Capitan?

Has anyone found a solution to this? I moved the CoreAudio Plugin to an (unused) HAL folder and was able to shut down my computer. (Wow, thanks Avid for allowing me to finally shut down my computer!)
I have the newest 12.5.2 HD Driver but it doesn't include the CoreAudio Plugin and my HD Native doesn't show up on in OSX, or in Ableton, or in Native Instruments, etc...
The "Read Me" for 12.5.2 just seems like what they call "deflection" in psychology.
I do use Optical SPDIF I and O of OMNI to the Mac Pro, and Loopback to do various things. Monitoring works this way, but recording through the OMNI's Optical SPDIF into the Mac Pro Optical SPDIF and into other software is, if not impossible, completely unrealistic.

Do I need to update to a new CoreAudio Driver, OSX, or Pro Tools?
Do I need to rollback to an old CoreAudio Driver, OSX, or Pro Tools?
Do I need to sell this stuff and get an Apollo?
What kind of convoluted capitalistic web of dysfunction is behind this painful conundrum? Never mind, forget that last question.

12 core Mac Pro
El Capitan 10.11.6 (15G31)
PTHD 12.5.2.511
OMNI
HD Native PCIE

I've been doing the optical loopback thing for so long that I've actually come to like it!!!! It allows me to quickly/easily record any system output like an iTune 1:30min preview as a ref, or anything that will only stream.

So even when I am running Logic or Studio One I just monitor through PT. I have 4 PT sessions on my desktop, one for each possible sample rate.
I just bought an Apollo Twin. Avid will eventually lose my hardware business. I assume that's what they actually want. Right? I mean, really???

Love my Twin and Apollo 8P!!! I lightpipe them into PT, great stuff.

As for Avid, of course they don't want to lose your business, but they seem either unwilling or incapable of applying the resources needed to fix this. Apparently there's a team on it, but nothing yet obviously.

Can you get a PreAmp Plugin on each channel? Like an 88rs?

As long as we know they are aware and "on the job" it makes you feel better. Thanks for that info Drew.

Yes. I just tracked a new project and used 10 Unison pres (API Vision Channels), lightpiped into my HD I/O and it sounded fantastic.

96k session, 64 sample buffer. I know some say they can't tolerate this amount of latency (didn't measure it, don't know what it is) but the talent NEVER said anything or acted in any way bothered by it.

Core Audio driver? They are def aware and working on it.
