Default Midi questions for you...

Hi, I have a couple midi questions for you guys:

I'm having trouble with trying to paste some hi hats on a midi drum track. I copy the hi hat from one verse and want to paste it to another verse, but when I do, it pastes the hi hat and erases all the other midi info in that section. I have midi merge on, but that doesn't seem to affect copy/paste apps. ...so how do I copy/paste parts of midi tracks and non-destructively paste them to a new location?

Also, I don't see the names of the midi tracks on the track itself. Is there a way to have the midi track name appear on the track like it does with regions?

thanks.

there is a paste special function for MIDI Merge

To see the region names you need to have the MIDI track in Region view, you're probably in Notes view.

so I have to be in region view to see the name of the midi track on the screen?
I can't just have the name up in the corner of it like an audio region?

thanks for the info.

I've never even once needed to see a MIDI region name.

If you have 30 midi tracks of drums in your regions list, how do you know which one you're currently editing without having to click each one until it's highlighted in PT? It would be nice to have the names up like audio regions if it's possible.

Just like for an audio track, before recording, highlight the track name box and type in a name.
