Horrible Delay and Reverb on "record enabled" in PTLE 8.0
I ran into this problem with pro tools 8.0 while attempting to record with a guitar.
Upon record enable of a track. The guitar gets a horrible delay slap back effect and reverb. When recording something this effect remains as well. When the recording is done and you listen to it, these effects are nowhere to be found. So : Record enabled. Horrible slap back delay and reverb During recording. Horrible slap back delay and reverb Playback of said recording. No effects to be found. When record enabled is off and you're just playing normally these effects aren't there. I made a new track several time and a new session to be sure that this wasn't a track or session problem. It's still there. I had this problem to a smaller unnoticeable extent with pro tools 7.3 but that was only a tiny bit of reverb. This is so horrible that i can't even hear much of what I'm playing during record. The problem sort of goes away for a few seconds and then it turns back on at random. I can't find any info on it so I'd appreciate it if anyone knew anything. Edit: Out of guess work I'm thinking that normally pro tools is picking up one signal of the guitar and when switched to record enabled for some reason it duplicates the signal causing the slap back delay type effect. Thoughts? |

Re: Horrible Delay and Reverb on "record enabled" in PTLE 8.0
wow, well that fixed it... Looks like it was way easier then i thought.
Huge thanks man! A little info on that to redeem myself. Pro tools kept freezing up asking me to increase the H/W buffer for play back so i went from 256 samples to 512 samples to 1024 samples to 2048 samples. I now see decreasing my H/W buffer got rid of the problem of the slap back effect. Seems i still have much to learn. Also the exact error message i was getting was this. "The operating system held off interrupts for too long. If this occurs often, try increasing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the playback engine dialog. This kept popping up and stopping my recordings so i choose to increase it. Maybe i need to let my comp rest for awhile? Thanks again. |

Hahaha. well i always used my mac for music and when i really got into pro tools there were a lot of vst's i needed windows for
So i borrowed my friends copy of vista 64 bit. I have linux windows and os x on different partition and os x and windows both have pro tools on it. That's pretty much the jist of that :P Oh yeah plus i didn't have the os i needed for 8.0 i don't think. |

Dump Vista and run PT in the Mac environment. I suspect that would make you much happier. Besides, your version of PT is not compatible with any 64bit Windows.
