Default Dae error -9035

Hi
I'm having a problem with protools LE. When I try to edit my protools session on an external drive (which is partitioned but has plenty of space in both partitions) I get a Dae error -9035 when I try to playback any audio. I think this might be a problem with the way my hard drive is formatted because it works when i try to edit on my computer's hard drive (but i don't want to do that). I don't think my files are longer than 31 characters--I named them. Help!

Some system details might be helpful for remote troubleshooting.

I have a Macbook with 10.4 running, and an external glyph external hard drive. Protools LE 7.3 with an Mbox. I also hooked up my drive to my old computer, an Imac G5, with OS 10.3.9, and protools LE 6.4, and got THE SAME ERROR. This leads me to believe it is a problem with the way the drive is formated. I partioned it into two parts, but journaling is enabled in both, and there are 30 gigs free in one partition, and 60 gigs free in the other. Any ideas?

The actual amount of free space on the drive is not as important as the percentage. Anything less than 50% free space will begin to have performance issues.

Also realize that the second partiton on a drive will be slower than the first. If you're trying to stream files from both partitions simultaniously you are really stressing the drive, and slowing it down.

I'd backup the files, initialize the drive, and copy everything back. It'll clean up the directory, and the file structure.

I think I'd also try a new FW cable. Sometimes it's the simple fixes that are overlooked.
