AIR did it again !

my experience with upgrading to the AIR Instrument Expansion Pack V2.2:

1. a ridiculous convoluted upgrade/purchase process
2. download of about 65 GB content (which did last a whole day long due to interrupted downloads - as always with AIR downloads), only to get a few plug-in updates
3. after running the installers Pro Tools 10 did not start anymore. again AIR changed permission rights of the DigiShoeTool, which resides in Library/Application Support/Pro Tools, preventing PT from starting up - the same mess as a few months ago with AIEP V2. I got this fixed by changing permission rights of the DigiShoeTool
4. Hybrid does not show up in any AU-host - maybe due to a corrupt installer
5. all AIR plugs don´t work in Vienna Ensemble Pro. after instantiating one of them, VEP isn´t accessible anymore
6. In Logic Pro X I made a test with strike: the preset browser does not work properly: after scrolling down in a folder and clicking a preset-name, it always jumps back to the top - so you can only get access to the upper presets
7. strike crashed PT 10 by changing patches - never had such an issue with previous versions of strike


in summary - a whole day of fun (again)

Thanks for the warning...I'm running PT10 and OS10.8.5 too - I think I'll pass on the AIR upgrade for now.

That would be a Very Smart Move!

Some of the same issues here aswell and we have uninstalled that whole sadness again, just like last time (2.0) as it starts corrupting our external SSD drives and telling them to eject everytime we start PT11HD. Exactly the same as IEP2 upgrade.

Air needs to rethink and observe how other companies are updating libs and apps.

Tonwurm : No surprise there (your photo)

We had similar anomolies in our Structure folder aswell. Only the last .dmg part is supposed to be smaller so go figure ...

I generally like to keep up-to-date with upgrades ... but I've seen enough and will pass for now! AIR do appear to have mastered how not sell/distribute their wares in the internet age!

My downloads were truncated as well. After the 2nd or 3rd time though, I finally got them all. They have extracted properly, but I haven't installed them yet with the exception of Hybrid3.

I'll wait on the rest.

I thought only Hybrid 3 needed to be updated if you have the Pro Tools version that first came out.

I though this update was only important because of VST and AU support and of course Hybrid 3 updated?
