Default Protools 2021.3.1 compatibility with Monterey

Hello Community,

I have an Intel MacBook Pro running Big Sur. Can anyone tell me if I am able to upgrade to Mac OS Monterey and still use my ProTools version 2021.3.1.?

thank you for your help

I would stay away from Monterey for now. I had many crashes and had to revert back to Big Sur.

I hope Avid give us a qualified version soon. My company's IT dept has pushed Monterey on the rest of the company for security reasons. We media cats have convinced them to leave us be for the time being. But I don't know how long their patience will last.

Right at this moment, NO version of Pro Tools works completly in Monterey. Stay at Big Sur for the moment.

That said, I doubt that anything but the latest will work with Monterey when PT is finally updated.

Big Sur 11.6.3 should contain any security updates needed.

Tell your power hungry IT goons that you cannot for any reason upgrade to Monterey.

Pro tools actually runs fine but the plugin nightmare is disastrous. This includes avids own plugins. It’s a mess.

Hello there. I have been using my M1 Pro in Monterey
with ProTools successfully for the past 2 months.
Many of the PT plugins still work including instruments.
I have made screenshots of ones that work and ones
that do not for anyone interested. PT 2021.12 does give
a warning to avoid crashing unlike prior versions! The
excellent Waves plugins run without issue and with
the vast collection these are all I use. Many others
including NI, IK, Superior Drummer and Plug-in Alliance
also work.

Obviously it is working in Rosetta and PT takes
a while to load controllers, which is frustrating.

High time they got their act together!
