Default RIP Gary Brooker

Here's one that seems to have escaped a lot of us. While going through the obituary section of the local newspaper they have a section of famous people that have died. Gary Brooker, one of the founders of Procol Harum died on Saturday February 19, 2022. This is but one of many articles of his passing: https://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment...-dies-83058223

When I heard the news
I turned a whiter shade of pale
I turned it up so loud
the angels started to cry …

https://youtu.be/eHVhuHdgqGQ

What a beautiful blend of Hammond with an unforgettable voice!
I still remember the very first time I heard it - and the shiver it sent down my spine … and that was about 55 years ago …

Thank goodness for music!

Indeed, only a month ago, I watched a live event where Gary was performing with a full orchestra and choir. It brought tears The best music lives forever

The best music does in fact outlive us all.

Being a teenager when I first heard “Whiter Shades”, I hear it again and am teleported back. Like many of us I suppose that came of age during that time many of the memories are very bittersweet.

RIP Gary. You too were part of the soundtrack of my life.
