Yesterday I had to give Structure V1.1 another try working on an older session. Unfortunately it's absolutely unusable on my system. When I remove the plug-in everything works fine again.

DTS, would it make sense to delete the pref file (com.digidesign.Structure.plist) and reinstall?

Thanks,
Andreas

You could try just deleting that preference file - a reinstall shouldn't be necessary.

We're still looking into the problem - we can't repro as of yet, but we have a few more testers on it and will report back as soon as we have any conclusive info.

In the meantime, can you tell me the number and types of drives you're using and how they're formatted (GUID, APM, etc)?

I have an external SCSI array of about 10 drives using an ATTO UL5D card. The samples are on a SATA 7200rpm drive. I've used it with the samples on the SCSI drive to try it out and experienced the same issue. OS is on another separate SATA. 2 external USB drives for archiving sessions. No audio is written to them - they just hang out being storage. But my system hasnt changed. Only the Structure version.

All formatted NTFS. I'm Win XP sp3. I think Andreas is on Mac.

nah, we're way beyond that.. prefs/databases... done it to no avail. exit PT, re-launch.. good for a little while b4 it returns.

Ok, for those who have had the same problem, I had to call customer service to get a NFR (Not For Resale) License dropped to my Ilok account because it's apparently not possible to get back a surrendered license.

Anyway, so far so good and no errors anymore with 1.0.5 - ALTHOUGH, any session made with 1.1 will not recall the preset u had when 1.0.5 is installed. So I have both structure dpm and rsr files installed and just renamed v.1.1 dpm and rsr files to 'Structure1'. So if i have to recall a session using 1.1 (you end up knowing when all of your structure plugs are set to 'Sine' - the default), I go into the plugin folder and rename the Structure.dmp and rsr files to 'Structure1' and allow the one I renamed Structure1 (v1.1) back to 'Structure.'

A crazy work around for sure, but on new projects it's a huuuge time saver avoiding those errors which set u back 8-10min each time which in session time is an ETERNITY. Hope this helps somebody.

Hope the fix for 1.1 comes soon...

Yes, I'm on Mac. I guess those issues are disc related. I use internal SATA (GUID) drives and external discs via firewire. To give it a try, I've copied my Structure content to an internal drive. That seems to ease the problems.
I think it's also quite important to have the drives GUID formatted.

Just found this thread and yes I'm having the same problems. I didn't realise it was structure related but now all makes sense.

I'm currently working on a big project with fast turn arounds so these freezes are a real pain in the rear.

Is the only fix to contact tech support and go back a generation?

Al

Ok.. I finally had time. I uninstalled 8.0.4 (ProTools and audio drivers), then installed 8.0 (with all options - it gives you an error when getting to the Creative Collection, u know, the AIR plugins: xpand, etc. cuz 8.0.4 is still installed from the latest protools I guess - OK'd thru it.), then I installed 8.0.1 (I get the same error there and OK'd thru it).

I've had NONE of those errors since. A full day with Structure (v1.1) and other VIs. I dont feel I'm missing anything from 8.0.4 outside of the Avid logo and now the quick 'recently used folders' on the windows platform is back which was oddly taken away in 8.0.4 which was and now IS quite convenient once again. So all good here so far!!

We have no indication that this is Structure related at the moment - we're still trying to get a repro case, but any relevance to Structure seems to be coincidental.

You should review my posts from earlier in this thread about erasing drives and making sure they're formatted correctly, as these errors are usually indications of a drive issue.

We'll report back again as soon as we can determine any other reasons this may be occurring, especially given that some of you are reporting it's still happening with correctly formatted drives (did I mention you should backup and erase the drives, just to be sure it's not a drive format or directory problem?)

Knowing as many details about the systems this is occurring on will help us in our investigation so, if you can take the time to provide as much info as possible, it'll help immensely.
