Metronome click in ProTools LE/Mbox2 set up?
I am new to ProTools coming over from seven years of using Logic Audio. In Logic Audio I used a ROLAND JV1010 to provide a midi metronome click. The software had the option of a "built-in" metronome, but I was told by all when I started using Logic that I should avoid it at all costs, because it was unreliable and it ran down the system. But that was circa 2000 and I have a Pent III 933mHz with 128MB of RAM. I just set it up with the JV1010 and never looked back.
But now I no longer have a midi sound module, and I am switching to ProTools. I absolutely need a metronome click. Does ProTools LE with an Mbox2 have a good metronome? Is it reliable? Does it drain the CPU to the point of being impractical? If it is not a reliable solution, could someone please make a suggestion for a cheap solution? Please keep in mind that I would need the option of being able to change tempo in mid song, and I will be using drum machine software so I have to have grid locked sync. Thanks guys, Michael |

The click plugin in Pro Tools works just fine, and will do what you want it to do, but...

Thanks for the response!
Yeah, I have since upgraded my PC to a Pent IV 2.4gHz w/ 1.5 GB of RAM and a 7200RPM external firewire drive. That should be alright. I hope at least! Michael |

Re: Metronome click in ProTools LE/Mbox2 set up?
I can't report on it's performance because I don't have it yet. I was talking about the system that I WILL have to run PtoTools on. I still need to get a firewire drive.
I have a LaCie firewire drive that I LOVE! I use it with Avid for video. It is GREAT! |
