Default Signal Level of the track?

I know that is 0db when I hit the red and -96db at the bottom.. but how can I know what level am I? What does it indicate when it turns from green to yellow? -10db?

Do I need to insert some plug-ins which have clear level display? or.. just buy a Control 24
