Latency is a non issue for me. I'm recording a live performance with no fold back from the recording to the performers. I could have 30 seconds of latency and it wouldn't matter as long it records every time.

But as I think about this, if I have to import from another application, I may as well record to a hard disk recorder like the Sound Devices Dante recorder or the JoeCo Recorder. Either of those are about the same cost as an HD Native with Omni I/O set up.

Way to lose a sale Avid.

The Sound Devices 970 seems an excellent solution for you. 64 tracks of presumably solid recording for less than the price of a HD IO 16x16 (picking a random Avid component). And I'd hope it ends up being much more reliable than a computer based recorder and require a lot less maintnence and dicking around.

plus the 970 is more compact
and I've never considered Pro Tools a great "Live Show" recorder but they be mt OS9/9600 days showing
