Default PT 7.3.1 M Powered very slow on each command..help

Hi Everyone

Hope there is someone to help me please. Setup is as follows

Firewire410 with driver 1.8.1 approved with 10.4.0 OS
G5 PowerPC 2GHz with 512MB
Pro Tools 7.3.1 loaded.

I have done the usual disables of Energy Saver,Spotlight,Dashboard etc

When I load my PT session and select keyboard commands during edit the little spinning ball appears for about 20 sec then starts the command I have pressed. Each time the song plays and I select a new command it then stops playing, spins the ball and eventually starts again with the next command. The same happens in mix window when I add a new plugin. This is almost like a lag or something. CPU cant be the issue as it happens without any plugins added as well

My record/playback partition has been correctly setup as OS journal extended.

I must note that I have the exact same setup on my Powerbook G4 PowerPC and it works a dream, however because of processing power for RTAS plugins I need to move all to G5 asap.

any help is appreciated

regards

Quinton

you need more RAM, remember, 512 is the minimum...I have 1.25GB in my G5 and still get the spinning ball so I know 512MB is going to get it...

I am having the same problem. Have been using pro tools on pc desktop with 1 gig of ram with absolutely no problems. I just loaded all the same software (pt and plug-ins) on my Macbook with 512 mb ram, and I get nothing but little spinning balls. It is completely useless. Oh well, I guess I will have to invest in more ram.
