Why would you upgrade an ancient system to a slightly less ancient system?

TDM cards are limited to Protools 10. Protools 10 is officially limited to OSX 10.8. The 2013 Mac Pro's oldest OS it can run is OSX 10.9. If I remember correctly you can still run Protools 10 on OSX 10.9 just fine even though it's not supported.

But......., you would need some thunderbolt to PCI-E chassis that supports the old OSX and the old TDM cards. You can only use old plugins, current day Protools plugins don't run on TDM. You need all kinds of old software which you cannot upgrade due to the old OSX. This includes browsers and such.

You need to ask yourself if you really need the low latency advantages of recording through TDM/DSP plugins, which is currently the only reason to stick to TDM/HDX dsp systems. If not, you are way better off with a new Mac mini and a simple (non Avid) stereo audio interface.

Review your needs.
A maxed out Mac mini with Pro Tools Studio and an interface that meets your in -out needs.

In my opinion the only real good reason to run HD (TDM) system today is if you have invested in Waves Mercury TDM license.
