s/pdif i/o
Anyone know of some gear with two inputs and S/PDIF out? Right now I use the S/PDIF out on my boss GT6B foot pedal for bass when I am maxed on inputs.
Recently I did a church gig where I had to bring in my ProTools rig and a Yamaha 16 channel recorder (AW4416) to pick up a few extra channels. Now I have to take the yamaha tracks into PT and manually line up the tracks. Looking for suggestions if anyone has any. |

Re: s/pdif i/o
In the budget range ART makes a couple of 2 channel preamp/converters with spidf out. If you're looking for higher quality you may be able to find a used Apogee mini-me (they're now discontinued). Even higher up the chain would be the API A2D. All these have preamps built in. If it's converters only than perhaps the Mytek 2 channel ADC, or the (more expensive) Apogee Rosetta 200.
An off the wall suggestion: the new Eleven Rack, would give you what you need plus way more. |

Re: s/pdif i/o
according to the specs on that unit it has MIDI syncing options.
"Time-code Based Full Automation MTC or MIDI Clock Automation In addition to completely self-contained automation of all faders and mix parameters, automation can be synchronized to an external MIDI Time Code source (30, 30-drop, 25, or 24 frames per second) or MIDI clock signal without the need for any extra interfaces or converters. The AW4416 can also generate MIDI Time Code for synchronization with other equipment." you'd have to set Protools as the main clock (master) so when you press play in Protools it will start playing the Yamaha. Once you have it synced up fine you should be able to send the first 8 tracks out of the yamaha and record them into 8 inputs of protools. then do the rest the same way. I used to have to do this with an old multitrack drum machine I had, except i had to send the tracks over one at a time and mute the other 3 tracks. they all synced up no problem n the end. it was just a bit time consuming (a 4 minute song took 16 minutes) Jeff |

Re: s/pdif i/o
Joe Meek TwinQ (the more recent version... not the original). 2 complete (pre, compression, EQ) channels with pretty decent conversion and S/PDIF. Can find them used for under $500.
