Sound quality between MOTU 828 MKII and DIGI 003
Hello,
I've a MOTU 828 MKII that I use for LOGIC 8 and I've a DIGI 003 to use with PT. For you, which is the best sound card, MOTU or DIGI 003, and why ? I wonder that in order to know if I still need the MOTU. Cheers, Vincent

Re: Sound quality between MOTU 828 MKII and DIGI 003
I used a MOTU 828 MkII about 3 years ago and I must admit I really like the sound of those particular recordings, possibly over the ones I've done using Digi hardware.
The 828 MkII was a nice feeling unit to use, but I find PT so much better than anything else as a recording platform that I'm afraid Digi hardware was the best option at that time. Having said all that, there are so many variables with recording that it would be impossible to say categorically that it was the quality of the MOTU that made those recordings 'better' than those I've made using Digi hardware, it could have been the room/mics/drum tuning/tea/toast etc. I'm perfectly happy with my Digi rig generally. Also the 002/003 has more pres than the MOTU so... Sorry not to be more help...bit of a pointless reply really... B

Ok, I only record hardware synths into Logic through MOTU. No gtr, singers, ... (at this moment) lol

Re: Sound quality between MOTU 828 MKII and DIGI 003
Ah, yeah sorry I didn't use the MOTU for synths at all, I have done a fair bit using my Digi hardware and I'm perfectly happy with the results.
I must get a real analog synth of my own, so much fun, the ARP plug is quite good, and there are some interesting things possible on the Reason softsynths, but there's nothing like the real thing. Do you have any audio examples you could post? I'd be interested to see if I can hear a difference in quality between the 828 and the 003. Cheers B
