Re: question on usb vs digital audio
I don't understand your question.
My controller, Axiom 49, is connected via USB. There is NO SOUND travelling this route. The sound is taken care of by the A/D D/A in your interface!

Re: question on usb vs digital audio
I do :) What I guess is helpmeout55 probably does not know his USB audio is also digital, because his USB interface does not provide digital connections. He uses "digital out" term for some built-in audio interface.
Question which one is better can not be answeres unless mesured/auditioned. |

Re: question on usb vs digital audio
Yes, I guess you are missing and messing something :)
Look at your setup. What audio devices are present/connected? Which of them you want to use for what purpose? Are your questions are Pro Tools related? |

Re: question on usb vs digital audio
Yes you are missing something - a basic knowledge of how things hookup and what terms mean what. The firewire device is using USB - what does that mean? They are two completely different connection protocols.

Re: question on usb vs digital audio
About we answer the question with some information...
All sound coming into your computer is digital. Whether you are hooked up via USB, FireWire or even just plugged into the line in jack... there is Analogue to Digital conversion going on. The connection type is irrelevant. USB cannot "sound better" than FireWire or S/PDIF it is all interface dependent. It all comes down to the preamps and converters in your interface. How it is connected to your computer does not matter.
