Anyone compared X-Form?
just curious for those of you doing 4% changes if you have tried X-Form.
i haven't tried it yet, but plan to demo it next week. it will be good to have something else in the arsenal as each one seems to do something well and something esle not so well...

Re: Anyone compared X-Form?
No, but heard the algorithm demo at izotope booth at AES, on music tracks only and not exceedingly complex material, but the results were excellent. I'm sure they choose their demo material wisely, but from what I heard I'm prepared to be impressed by Xform.

Re: Anyone compared X-Form?
I tested X-form today on some 5.1 material. Full mix with dialogue, music, fx. I tried the PAL to FILM (25-24fps) preset.
It is much slower than Pitch 'n Time (which is a good sign) and immensely slower than Digi's free Time shift plugin. The sound quality seems very good, but as always in these cases it's dependent of material. But I discovered that IT IS NOT PHASE COHERENT despite the big words in ads. It is actually worse than the free plug. I posted this to support and I'll do some more tests tomorrow. Thomas |

Re: Anyone compared X-Form?
I tested all I have with mono dialog and modest time change. Here's my subjective results:
1. Digi X-form -almost as good as the original 2. Digi TCE -same basic quality than X-form. Not a very big difference. 3. Serato Pitch' n' Time -much worse that previous. Distant, thin and phasey. 4. Speed -Even thinner than Pitch'n'Time. Bad and compeletely unnatural. 5. Waves SoundShifter -Ouch. This makes mono dialogue sound like there's several voices. Nice special effect maybe? That said, on some other (stereo this time) material, X-form didn't sound good at all! |
