Default Re: 9.0.2 bug thread - help AVID out

is there something i should be looking for to fix -9128 errors?

been getting them quite a bit since 9.0.2 not a lot of RTAS running, less than 5. happening when i'm recording, sometimes just on playback. system resource meter is showing the CPU bouncing around 10 to 25% so... what's up with that i wonder?

Windows XP and 8.0.5, but I've read this bug is also happening with Windows 7 and 9.0.2:

Select Unused, then Clear and Alt + Delete should delete the files from the Region List without going through and asking if you're sure you want to delete the files. Unfortunately you are now still asked for confirmation of each and every file. And some of the unused files cannot be deleted, only removed. Prior to the update to 8.0.5, Alt + Delete worked correctly.

I am also experiencing a video glitch where I will separate a region at the cursor and then nudge the new region to the right, but a portion of the region will remain in place. Once I zoom in or out, this "ghost remnant" disappears.

Cheers,

Hey guys and gals,

Just found this one today:

When zooming in the edit window, where the cursor is not on any region, the
screen goes dark grey on the last zoom. (Note: it does not stay like this, you
can zoom right back out and all is fine).

Overall though, I have to say that PT9 has been a nice upgrade!

Frankly, I've just been editing the end of files when done, though this is NOT a solution! After looking further around the board here, I saw someone suggest that this problem was with sessions that had originally been created in PTLE 8 or earlier. So I created a new session, and ran a bounce to disk and it was indeed clean. Is that helpful?

did some more testing. this occurs after a fadeout at the end of a tune. when running the mix, i have always heard a blast of the music, post fade, when bouncing to disk. it never showed up before as part of the stereo bounced file, so i didn't sweat it. that is no longer true. now there's about 75mS of it being printed after the fade ends. i can leave any amount of "dead air" after the fade... doesn't matter. after that amount of silence, i find 75mS of sound. so it appears that the software is printing beyond the end of the fade.

so what i tried today was to turn off delay compensation, and voila! the blast was gone. after all, that was one big change in PT9.

SO... what can be done to rectify this, mr/ms avid?

There could be several causes for this. I've seen this occur with incompatible/outdated plug-ins installed. Can you zip up the AvidLogFiles folder located at MacHD>Users>your account>Library>Logs or (on Windows) C:\users\<username>\AvidLogFiles and email it to me at: vi [at] digidesign [dot] com? I may be able to determine what's going wrong with the info in those logs.

Please include the thread number in the subject of your email.

Avid, I sent the logs last week. Have you seen any plug-ins that are outdated or would be causing an issue?

Paul - thanks for your patience on this. I may have been overly ambitious in the number of log files I've requested recently (and I have a few that were sent unrequested and I want to help, but the requested ones come first). I'm working through them as quickly as I can and I'll do my best to get to yours tomorrow.

Thanks Avid! I know you're busy. Millions of us, one of you! I'm sure it's a simple outdated plug. Hopefully at a first glance, you'll be able to sort it out!
