Default Starting Up or Shutting Down Your System

In the Pro Tools Manual under "Starting Up or Shutting Down Your System" it states the order in which you turn the system on and off. (Computer, Interface(003), etc...) I was wondering if it really matters.

For instance, lets say that I turn my computer on before my 003; Will that do any damage? I've heard that it can burn out the firewire on the 003 or your computer.

I would really like to just leave my computer on and turn the 003 on and off as I need it. (leaving the 003 firewire cable still plugged in of course)

Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks

Welcome to the Forum.

Didn't see a reply to your posts...

It is a good idea to follow the power-up process, but that's more about proper communication/initialization.

Hot-plugging the FireWire cable is actually what could cause damage. See this KB article for more info.

Hope this helps.
