Default referencing CDs through mbox

I just bought some monitors Event TR8. What is the best way to set up my system to play CDs for reference? I was trying to run a Y cable out my headphone jack on my ibook to the RCA inputs, but with my sends from the mbox plugged in (I am using 1/4 inch balanced to XLR into the monitor) the CD plays so quietly. Is there anyway to avoid the hassel of having to unplug the sends from the mbox everytime I want to play a CD?

Why not use the coreaudio driver and play back your CDs using iTunes and the mbox?

In the sound preferences panel, click on the Output tab and then select Digidesign HW (MBox). You should now be able to route iTunes through your MBox.

Remember to reset to the built-in audio or PT will not be able to launch when another application has control of the MBox.

Hope this helps!
