PowerMac 970 + hd system= compatibility?
With the new powermac 970's on the horizon, I wonder if they will likely be compatible? of course it takes digi awhile before officially approving powermacs, the next powermac, however, is more than just a mere speedbump. Any thoughts on whethere or not the new 970's will work right off the bat with hd systems?

Re: PowerMac 970 + hd system= compatibility?
Well, rumor has it that they do NOT have PCI-X, so that is one step towards compatibility.
You could always be the first on the block to buy a 970 when it arrives and try it, but don't expect tech support from Digi until it is an "officially supported" configuration.

Re: PowerMac 970 + hd system= compatibility?
thanks for info. hmm say it does have the upgraded pci-x, would this mean that digi would have to redesign the hd cards or do you think the new pci slots will be backwards compatible? Rumor has it, the new powermac "could" come by the end of next month. I'm thinking more like august.

PCI cards are compatible with PCI-X slots.
