Default LE 7.3.1+Mbox2 Pro Playback problem

Hi
Just want to know if it's normal that when I'm in playback running and I want to modify something (ie to shorten a midi / audio region or doubling it) the playback stops for a while
I tried to increase the buffer till 1024 but no way
My system is Windows xp Pro with Intel 6600 Dual Core processor, 2gb ram, PT 7.3.1 cs4 Mbox 2 Pro soundcard

Thanks
