Default Can I open a Pro Tools 3 document in PT 11?

I've been asked to do a remix of an album that was created in ProTools 3.2 in 1997. I have PT 10 and PT 11 at my disposal. When I try to open the session, I get this message: Could not complete your request because an error occurred while reading the document.

It does the same with all songs on the album. Does anybody have an idea about how to open the old ones? "Saving as" to a new file is no problem, if I can just get it to come up.

this is on a mac pro, running 64 bit.

Thanks in advance for your help.

What format are the audio files?

SD2 you'd be better opening in PT10 first.

I've gotten three of the songs to open as PT 10 docs by creating new and importing session data, thank you all for your help. SD2 was the format. The other songs still say there was an error while opening, and one song gives a really long error message that I would have to copy and paste, but it ended with something about line 100. Anyway, thank you all for your replies.

How much edit work?
I'm thinking new session, Import the SD2 files and use Auto Spot to get them back in position
