Exclamation Compatibility Alert: Mac OS X 10.6.8 with HD Native

Avid is tracking reports of kernel panics on HD Native systems after updating to Mac OS X 10.6.8.

At this time, we have not officially qualified Mac OS X 10.6.8 and we specifically recommend that HD Native customers do not update to 10.6.8.

Just updated to 10.6.8 (downloaded 9.0.4 but haven't installed yet) and my mac won't boot up unless in safe mode...
Ran any kind of fix out there (disk utility from install disk, techtool pro, applejack) and nothing. Unless in safe mode, it won't boot.
I tried starting in safe mode, then run the PT updater, but it fails every time.
Help?

Avid's instructions specifically say to update to 9.04 BEFORE updating to 10.6.8. Otherwise... what is happening to you will happen.

I would take the HD card out, and I bet it will boot. Then update to 9.04 before re-installing the card.

Also, just double check Avid's instructions, because they're pretty thorough and you missed step 1 completely.

Hope this helps.

The Native card firmware will only update under 10.0.7. Once that's done, 10.6.8 w/9.0.4 works fine.

So to beat a dead horse a bit more:

With me being at 10.6.8 (not 10.6.8v1.1) and getting the "unable to find interface" error, I need to downgrade to OS 10.6.7, then run the PT9.0.4 updater, then update my OS to 10.6.8v1.1?

Do I need to run any other PT updates or drivers at that point? Ot should it be smooth sails?

Thanks for your patience, it's just a bit of work and I want to make sure I'm not doing it in vain.

Or even...should PT9.0.3 "just work" when I down grade to OS10.6.7? Maybe the lesser of two evils for me at this point...

Thanks again, Jahhn

Just go 10.6.7 (or earlier), Install and run 9.0.4, It will do a firmware update. Do the mac update to 10.6.8 and you should be rockin!
I didn't need to re-install interface drivers.
