Default WOW, HUI price drop?

I am in the market for a HUI and called around, I saw that they are listing new for $2399.00. This is like over a $1000.00 cheaper than when I checked 3 month ago! Is this telling me something or is it just the introduction of the baby HUI (which is a joke to me!) I want to buy a controller but don't want to buy a HUI if something good is coming out soon. Any Gossip on the possibility of a new controller from Mackie to replace the HUI?

R.J.

I haven't heard anything about a new controller for ProTools from Mackie. I personally thought the baby HUI was pretty cool when i checked it out. It doesn't have a monitor section or any Plug-in controls, but it has responsive faders and other mixing controls plus a nice little transport control, all for 60% of the price of a motor mix.

Anyway, nothing new in my gossip circles about anything new from Mackie.

Hi
The only news I have heard of, is that the Mackie Control will support PT.
This according to Digi, will be announced at NAMM Jan. 2003.

Does anybody know what the main differences between the HUI and the Mackie Control are, other than expandability? There were not too many details on Mackie's web site.

Also, I am wary of doing fader automation moves that may be off a bit due to midi delay. Has that every bothered anyone working on these?

Yeah right! Mackie is doing us a big favor by dropping the price 1k to where it was a couple of years ago before they raised the price 1k.

Mackie Control is soon to be compatible with PT. Also, other CS's are to hit the market by NAMM, supposedly a digi one.

Hang in there like the rest of us!

Yeah, I own a HUI and the responsivieness has often been a disapointment for me. I was equally disapointed to learn that the Mackie control is still using the old midi serial ports rather than something much faster like USB or Ethernet. Ho-Hum.

The anologue part of the HUI often "freaks out" because of the static electrical charge used to activate the "touch sensative faders" and the fader and meter response is sluggish. I do enjoy the scrub wheel and button controls though.
