Default need advice to route audio to sound card, PT 6.4 OSX 10.3.8

Greetings,

sort of a newbie, haven't done anything in years, trying to get going again. In the past, when I wanted to listen to playback, I used the monitor out of my 001 box. Somehow, it seems like I should be able to route the output to the audio card of my Mac, but I've been completely unsuccessful in getting anything but the 001 to show up in my I/O setup.

Is it possible to do this? Do I always have to use the PCI card and breakout box?

A little background. My mac with the PT LE is a G4 dual 450 Mhz, I bought it in the summer of '01. It predates the change in platforms that started in July of '01. It is not a mirror drive, silver drive, etc, etc, it is just a plain old Mac PowerPC G4 tower with the clear plastic handles. I did install a 2nd hard drive, an ATA 120 GB for exclusive use with my Pro Tools. In the summer of '05, a lightning strike blew out the ethernet on the motherboard, but the rest of the computer remained functional, as far as I know. I tried a PCI ethernet card, and it was torturously slow, so I bought a G5 dual 2 Ghz PowerPC. When I transfered everything over to the new machine, PT LE 6.4 was not supported. No surprise there.

Hopefully this will be possible to listen to the playback on the computer's output instead of the breakout box. It would just make things a lot more simple, if you know what I mean. If you need any more info to answer my question, just ask.

thanks in advance,

Dan

You can only playback ProTools through a Digi interface. Just think about the MboxMicro for a minute...
