Upgrade info from PT LE to PT 9

Hi

I need to upgrade from Pro Tools 8 LE to Pro Tools 9
I have a Digi 003 with PT8 that I bought used but the previous owner never transferred the leicence to my and the Avid web site won't let me register them under my name.

I have spoken to a few retailers this week and I am getting 2 different stories from them, some are saying I can't use the Crossgrade because the 003 isn't registered with avid and my PT8 lecience hasnt been transferred to me.
The other retailers are telling me this doesn't matter and all I need is the serial from 003 to use the Crossgrade.

Can anyone clear this up for me?

Sounds like you need to do a transfer of ownership:

Anyone confirm when they have croasgraded from LE to 9 they just had to input the serial number from thier hardware?

I need to upgrade in the next 3 days which means I haven't got time to wait for avid to sort out re registration of the unit and i no longer have the sellers details. I feel a little disgruntled as I only had to buy the 003 as the power harness blew on my 002 and I needed to get a replacement the next day to finish a session.
