Matched AAC / .m4a / ALAC files not being recognized
Hello folks.
I have been using PT for ~20 years, always on a Mac. A lot of my work is making DJ mixes or radio shows. A typical workflow for me has been to make playlists in iTunes, and then from there drag the files from iTunes into PT session to mix. Just "upgraded" Mojave to Monterey last week, and thus from iTunes to Apple Music app. And also from PT 11.3.1 which worked great under Mojave, to PT Intro on Monterey. Drag and drop mp3 / WAV / AIFF from Apple Music seems to work only about half the time, and now PT is completely unable to read .m4a files. I have tried to drag & drop these from Apple Music. I have tried to drag & drop these from the Finder window. I have tried to shift-command-I import them (they aren't even visible in this dialog window) Am I missing something here? Thanks for any help you can give. |

Re: Matched AAC / .m4a / ALAC files not being recognized
According to the comparison chart PT Intro does not support AAC encode/decode.

Can you send the link to the chart you're referencing? This worked fine with PT Intro on Mojave.

Under "Usability" I've never touched PT Intro so I can't say for sure. I just had that page bookmarked.

Re: Matched AAC / .m4a / ALAC files not being recognized
Ugh, yeah they got me with this one. I switched to PT Intro under Mojave to make sure it worked within my regular workflow. Worked fine there.
From what I am seeing, I think the change from the system wide built-in QuickTime support in Mojave to Monterey broke that native AAC support, and they don't have that included in the PT Intro version. Thanks so much for your help with this Sardi, now I just gotta figure out whether to run a Time Machine backup or pay the piper for updating to a "new" PT. Whomp. |
