Default What Is Carillon Doing To There Systems!

I see Carillon is approved under the compatibility list. What are they doing to the Bios and Windows XP to make there systems run better and get better performance!
Anyone have there tweaks or a System disk from them!

There's a couple of big assumptions in your question: 1) that they're doing anything to the BIOS and/or XP 2) that their systems run better and get better performance.

I'd bet they're just using ordinary motherboards and not doing ANYTHING to the BIOS at all, and sticking to approved chipset, etc.

Frustrating as it is for many people, it ain't rocket science.

Well we actually do many tweaks to the OS and BIOS that make our system run most reliably. Although why don't you try buy one and try it out for yourself!

Hi Alex,

long since not read from you.

Say, I have an Athlon 1800 that currently runs with 1024 mb RAM. The session open in the background while typing is of 2,08 GB size, being set to 128 samples buffer, contens 27 tracks audio, 42 midi, 8 aux, one master and 5 heavy reverbs, 4 comps, 1 amp modulator.
Kontakt is also launched to deliver 7 instruments each containing samples of 3 to 6 mb.

Records with all plugs on without a hitch.

Is this good, bad, average?

Greets,

Lalaman

Why would someone just "Buy and Try one?"
Why don't you run the DAVEC test and post
the results here, so maybe we would consider
spending $2500 to just "TRY AND BUY" one.

Alex,

There is one thing that you could do that would help Pentium 4 users in this group a bunch.

Carillon seems to have addressed the P4/D-verb bug. While not completely fixed, CPU usage when using the problem D-verb settings only allows CPU usage to increase 10-15% before returning to normal on its own. As you know, the D-verb bug usually results in CPU usage continuing to climb into "the red" requiring reset of the D-verb setting to play the session again.

I have a Carillon system (P4 2.4 GHZ bare bones) and am a very satisfied customer. I don't think telling the DUC how to fix this problem will negatively impact Carillon sales.

Thanks,
Greg

Lalaman, that sound pretty good to me. I will work on the Davec test for you guys. Where the link on how to do it again? Last time I tried the test was like a year ago. In regards to the D-Verb bug. I can't say because I haven't had any issues with it. Most people don't install chipset drivers and therefore horrible performance in alot of situations. Its knowing what drivers affect what and what versions to use.

Sorry if this has been dealt with before, but I was about to buy a Carillon computer this summer. What is holding me back is various reports (e.g. on www.silentpcreview.com) stating that SilentDrives are not recommended for 7,200rpm drives and indeed the Molex site says that they do not work with Seagate Barracuda IV drives, which I believe is used by Carillon.

Can you please let me know how Carillon deals with these concerns?

Regards

Len
