Default quick opinion on mixing methods

right now i'm mostly doing background tracks for songs i'm working on in REASON 2.5 and ReWiring them into PT and adding vocals.

i've been experimenting a little with different ways to mix (ie-channeling each sound individually and mixing everything purely in PT VS. simply using one stereo Reason plugin in PT, and mixing all the background stuff within the Reason interface). it seems if i use the latter method, i'm still able to easily use all of the reason effects processors.

just wondering people's knowledge/opinions on this matter!!

is it simply a matter of prefernce or are there benefits to doing it one way vs. the other??

Powerbook G4 512Ram

thanks,
ryan

I don't use Reason, so i don't know about its plugins, but I'd say:

It depends. If you have a lot of good plug-ins in Protools, record everything to tracks, and mix there. If your selection is better in Reason, use that. It's really all a matter of what sounds better to you.

I think Reason's really great, but one thing that I've found makes it sound better* is to bypass the Reason mixer. I just run each device I'm going to use to the interface.

*To my ears...your experience may be quite different.
