Default Video Problem-Please Help

I recently upgraded my system from a G5 to an Intel Mac.

I'm working on a project where I'm creating sound to (Quicktime) video. The format of the Quicktime file is DV at 720x480 and is running at 29.97 fps. The session's audio is at 48k/16-bit. I'm playing back the video file from a dedicated firewire drive.

The problem I'm having is that when I begin playing back the session, there is an approx. 2-second delay before playing begins. This happens everytime I begin playing the session from anywhere in the project.

When I turn off the "Video Track Online" option, the delay goes away and playback begins immediately.

On past Mac/PT systems I've owned, I've never had this delay problem when working to picture. I don't believe it's the format of the Quicktime file I'm using because I've worked on much slower computers with the same format and have never had this problem.

Also, the issue is not the firewire drive. As a test, I've tried playing back the video from my internal drives and also had the same problem. Besides, I've used this same firewire drive on my old G5 for video playback and never had the problem.

Also, as a test I set up a new PT session, imported the video with only one audio track playing and the issue still persists, so I know it's not my track count.

Please help. This delay is very frustrating especially since a fair amount of my work is to video and it is slowing my productivity.

How can I get rid of this playback delay?

btw, here is my system setup:
PT 7.3.1 LE
with DV Toolkit2 option
Digi 002 Rack

2 x 2 Ghz Dual-Core Intel Mac
8GB RAM
OSX 10.4.8
