Default Missing Plugins

Just bought a new computer.

I got Pro Tools running but I am missing a bunch of 3rd party plugins and virtual instruments. Most everything is gone. For example my Waves are all gone and I checked that they are updated.

Can someone tell me what I need to do? I cannot even find the Unused plugins or current plugins folders.

Thanks,

Did you reinstall from the Waves app? They have to be both installed and licensed to your computer. Generally whatever isn’t showing up, reinstall it from the installers.

Kind of a crappy link but here's an image showing they are installed....arrows on the right side. A whole mess of non-Waves plugs are missing too. Virtually everything.

Waves uses machine authorization of their own, the authorization does not migrate even if the plugin files would. They are still authorized on your old computer.

Seriously, you need to start from fresh and install everything from installers, not migrate anything PT/plugins related stuff.

To clarify, Waves DO NOT need to be authorised to the machine. Yes, that is one option, but they can also be authorised to an external drive. I have mine authorised to a thumbdrive which also holds my Plugin Alliance licenses. I treat it like an iLok and thus makes moving between machines very easy.

But what everyone is telling you is correct. Install from scratch using their app. If you still have access to the old machine, de-authorise your license, send it back to the cloud and then authorise the new machine or do what I did.

I believe Waves have gone back to providing a second license if you have an active WUP. If you don’t and you’ve lost the ability to transfer licenses, you’re able to ask for one replacement per year… unless that’s changed recently.

Ok I'll go look.
It's curious to me because all my Izotope, Soundtoys,EZ libraries, East West, Nomad Factory,Spectrasonics, Drumcore, Kontakt, Steven Slate etc etc etc......all gone. Represents a lot of expense.

But I suppose I will have to try reinstall.

Thanks.

Yes you must.

Actually best if you start from scratch, i.e. format your system drive, install OS, then install PT and plugins, and only copy over your project files. You will thank yourself later.

PT support has nothing to do with Waves.

Waves installer should help you authorise the plugins. Without authorisation they do not show up. Same goes with Spectrasonics, etc.
