Default PT 8 | TC Electronics Plugs are a Nightmare

Hi,

I am getting erratic & completely random crashes with ALL TC's plugs. Be it @ session load if the plugs are in the session. Be it swapping a slot on master fader. etc etc etc.

Every time PT crashes BADLY and when trying to relaunch I get the kernal panic gray curtain

TC's plugs are ALWAYS the thread that made PT crash

heres an excerpt of on thread

which Mac do you use?
I can not upgrade if TC MD3 is unstable. I master 70% of the time and this is one of my main tools.
Do you have problems with this plugin?

I am on a Harpertown 8 core. TC are very unstable. Especially the brickwall limiter. Sometimes it dont even limit even though I frag the threshold all the way down. Then other times it works for hours.

And TC's support is the worst in the business. So no help there.

Maybe it is only my system but everything else seem to work fine.

I have tried disabling the cached DSPs and now I am waiting too see how TCs plugs are behaving. I will report back

You should "always" reboot after a crash

95% of all crashes (I dont have many) do not require a MacOSX Reboot. Just a waste of good time

All crashes require a reboot! if you don't you stand more chance of getting a corrupted file or even sending your mac into a full kernal panic! full kernal panic, not good for your mac.

So you now have a permanent crashing problem with TC plugs? should have rebooted

Chris

I crashed 2 times today testing out the TC VSS3 reverb, either instantiating it, or making it inactive, and then making it active again. No worries for me, I don't actually use it in my mixes (yet), I was just testing it out to see if I like it. Maybe I'll wait on this one.

Thumbs down Re: PT 8 | TC Electronics Plugs are a Nightmare

I use MD3 and if there's extra problems with PT8 then I'll pass on the upgrade which you would think that Digi would have tested but I guess not....Typical

Logic 8 looks better everyday

This is not a Digidesign problem, it appears to be a TC problem. No other plugins are having this problem. I personally would rather live without 1 reverb, than all of the great features that PT8 brings.

Yup - Most definitely NOT a PT problem but a TC problem.
