Default Music Prod Toolkit

I've searched DUC and the documentation that I can find and can't find an answer so I'm asking here.

Does anyone know how upgrades to the MPT will be handled? I guess my question is: Will I have to shell out another $495 each new "full version" upgrade to PT or once authorized, I am good to go. I don't mind paying something between versions but I don't necessarily want to have to shell out the entire amount.

I understand software maintenance costs such as WUP and am okay with those since I can fairly estimate what they would be to keep at the new version. However, I can't seem to find any information on how Digidesign will handle the MPT upgrades in the future. I'd just like to know before I make the purchase.

Any ideas? Thanks.

They don't really release "paid upgrades" for toolkit packages, so you don't need to worry about it too much. Once you have the assets on your iLok you're good to go.

The only example I can think of is when they went from the Original DV Toolkit to the DV Toolkit 2 for compatibility reasons. The upgrade fee was much less than the full version of the original toolkit - the original DVTK had been out for many many years before that even happened though. Should they ever have a need to do the same with the MPT, I think it's safe to assume the upgrade fee would be a reasonable fee and not the full cost of the toolkit.

Thanks for the information. I kind of figured that but hadn't clue about how they'd been handled in the past. I appreciate your response and won't worry a bit.

I bought the MPT when I first got my mac mini with PTLE 7.1.1 and the DVDs were for power pc processor macs. They let me download the newer update for Intel processors for free and it works fine with Leopard.
