PT5 Markers
Two Questions...
1. Can you lock the markers track? 2. Why can't you option-tab to the previous marker? Is there a workaround? Thanks, PS |

Re: PT5 Markers
peter,
you can just open the markers window and click to any marker at any time. as far as locking the markers track, i don't quite understand the question, but what i would love to know is can you lock markers to a certain bar/beat/smpte time, and then when you move the region the marker moves with it. thats what i need. hope this helps... cmz

Re: PT5 Markers
Here is how I have been using the markers in an audio post context:
First, I lay down markers at every video cut: This way I can navigate quickly by just using the tab key, or shift-tabbing to select the area for a certain scene. So far, so good. Sometimes I want to select the previous adjacent region. One would think the option-shift-tab method would work here on the markers track, it certainly does on audio tracks. Alas, no. By "locking" the markers track, I mean the same operation that you can to do audio tracks: Preventing accidental deletions of markers. Here's how I often end up deleting them: Lets say I have a background sound effect that is too long for a scene. The fastest way I can think of to trim it to fit is to: 1. Tab to the marker that indicates the end of the scene. 2. Shift-click to the audio track to be trimmed to include it in the selection. 3. Shift-tab to extend the selection to the end of the soundfile 4. delete This method smokes for trimming to picture, but you end up deleting your marker because it was included in the selection. If you could "lock" the markers, this would'nt hapen. One more request: The ability to include marker data in the "export session as text" command. This would be nice for rough ADR and effects spotting. -ps |

Re: PT5 Markers
i gotcha, and if they could lock to a certain region then maybe my little dilema would also be fixed.(the marker would be locked to a region and would move if the region moved)
any thoughts digi????? cmz

Re: PT5 Markers
Peter:
If I understand correctly what you're trying to do, then I think this may help. Do step 1 and 2 as you stated then, use the trim to end shortcut key (a or s I'm not sure because I'm not in the studio right now). I think that this may delte the excess audio and save you a few keystrokes at the same time. I'm not sure if it will delete your marker but it's worth a try. |
