Yes some only allow use on X amount of computers.

In a situation like that though…..past experiences have been I get an error when trying to open a plugin like “not authorized to run on this computer” or “will run in demo mode only” that sort of thing.

I gotta be honest…… the idea fills me with dread. My ADD is already going into hyperdrive and I’ve not even started yet.

But let me ask you…….to be clear……is your suggestion that I do a restore of the computer back to the basic OS install and absolutely nothing else? Like I brought it home on day one?

Then install every app and plug in from the manufacturers installer downloads?

I’m actually beginning to be less concerned about music stuff. PT is easy and so far all of the developers I have looked at have my products with download/update links and my licences.

It’s all the other apps especially video and photo editing apps not so easy and I think some have gone to subscription only.

Yes, exactly. Factory settings. In here you will find the term "clean install" used a lot, this is what it means.

And in this case very important as you are moving from one architecture to another. You may not even be able to find ARM native software for 100% everything, but you still should do it.

First, take a good look of your old system and list all you have installed there and want to instsll on the new system. Second go to the web pages of the software and download latest "M1 compatible" installers. And I mean every single plugin you wish to install to the new system.

Then just install and fire up PT for the first time. Then you know which are not authorized on iLok, but need machine auth instead. Work on them and get rid of error messages.

Finally, instead of deleting, move the installers to a backup so all of this is easier should you have to do it again.
