What’s best way to install latest 2023.9?

Should I totally uninstall my old current ?
By dragging app into an uninstaller ?

Should I just leave my 2022 version as is and run latest 2023.9 installer?

Does that leave old version and install new version so you have both?
Or will it give me option to keep old or delete?

Just wanted to know if best to keep both and how that’s done
And then maybe trash old after a week or so. ??

Thanks to those who have done this and reply
Rename the Pro Tools 2022 version in your Applications folder, e.g. "Pro Tools 2022.9.app" and then run the 2023.9 installer. Then you'll have both versions installed and you can lunch either.

IMO don't forget to uninstall Avid Link after running the installer.

That’s the way to do it. I’m also in the habit of backing up the preference files for the PT version I’m renaming as well.

I want to mention that it's a good idea to create a new preference file with each PT update. We've seen it here countless times where some random hard-to-diagnose issues are cleared up by creating a new Pref file after a new version of PT. I keep screenshots of the tabs in Prefs so I can easily get back to how I like things set up. It takes a few extra minutes to reestablish but in EVERY case I sense a slightly quicker/smoother PT.

I've got exactly the same problem on my windows 11 desktop machine (my laptop is fine). I did try a work around by trying to select and copy a clip from the clip list and then paste to a track, this worked once but I can't then copy a different clip in the same way - the first clip gets pasted again. Also baffled.

I'm back on 2023.6 as a result.

For those who are unable to drag clips from the clips list here is a quote from another thread with a solution that might work for you:

So relieved I'm not the only PT user on earth with this problem. I'll try some stuff with my Omni and report back.
