ilok Issues with Windows 7 / 64 bit
Ok I have set up an ilok account but I'm getting errors when I try to attach the ilok to my account...
It says active x is having trouble communicating with my ilok? has anyone encountered this before? I'm going to to contact ilok support also and see if they can help. i have all the newest drivers and all that jazz. using windows 7 pro 64 bit. I've tried reinstalling. The light shows up no problem and I can find the ilok in my system under devices and printers. I will try a few other things as the problem really seems to be the drivers |

Re: ilok Issues with Windows 7 / 64 bit
Make sure you've downloaded the latest drivers from ilok.com.

Re: ilok Issues with Windows 7 / 64 bit
Do the recommended Win7 optimisations. I had the same problem (and a bunch of registry server issues when applying updates) and solved it by turning off DEP and UAC.

Re: ilok Issues with Windows 7 / 64 bit
I've seen this two or 3 times
Use IE not any other browser Clear the cache Try unpluging and plugging the ILOK Reboot PC I cant say which one worked but a combination of the above did |

Re: ilok Issues with Windows 7 / 64 bit
I had this problem in Win 7 64-bit as well. Make sure you are using the 32-bit version of IE...for some reason the 64-bit IE won't work on the iLok website.

Re: ilok Issues with Windows 7 / 64 bit
64-bit IE works for me. Firefox 4.0b not working except when switching to IE rendering.

Re: ilok Issues with Windows 7 / 64 bit
Thanks touchwood for posting this on my behalf...
I have officially tried all suggestions. I have uninstalled the ilok drivers and reinstalled them clean. ( both the drivers and the ilok client helper) I have tried firefox, ie and chrome all with the same results. I tried to install 32 bit ie on my system but it just told me it was the wrong version for the system so I could go no further. I have and plugged back in the ilok dongle, I have done all windows 7 optimizations and i have beat my head against my desk and muttered obscenities under my breath... here is the exact phrasing of the error: ------ The Active-X component that talks to your iLok was not initialized. If your ilok.com client software was installed before June 4th, 2008, you need to update your client software by visiting this page to download a software update. If you have updated your software, but there is currently a security warning at the top of your browser window from Internet Explorer that you need to click on the warning and let the Active-X component load. After clearing the warning, Try your ilok.com operation again. ------ I will try one more day for responses and possible solutions, but come monday- its tech support time... |

Re: ilok Issues with Windows 7 / 64 bit
Check your Start menu...on my machines both the 32-bit and the 64-bit Internet Explorer are installed...

Re: ilok Issues with Windows 7 / 64 bit
Check your DEP settings. I followed AVID's 'enable DEP for all applications except Pro Tools' and I got the same error.
DEP was preventing iLok web site from communicating with my iLok. You can use the default DEP settings and it should work again after a restart. Hope this helps. GregJ |

Just as an update: I attached my ilok to my ilok account no problem with my MacBook. Pt9 starts fine. But now my comp doesnt register that the ilok is plugged in sometimes. No really big deal. I just unplug it and plug it back in and it works. I'm going to reinstall the drivers and see if that fixes it.
