Default Slow/Not Smooth Editing and Scrolling

I've been using Pro Tools 7.4 on Leopard for some time now and decided to upgrade. I upgraded to PT10 and Snow Leopard. I also installed an extra 4 gigs of RAM. Overall my system and Pro Tools has improved in performance except for one of my most important functions. I edit large amounts of dialog very quickly every day and PT10 has slowed this process down for me significantly.

First of all, when I am scrolling horizontally the waveforms blink and disappear temporarily. This alone is making it more difficult to edit quickly. Even worse is that there is a slight delay when moving clips around and using the trim tool. It's almost like in 7.4 when i would try to edit while the task manager was processing audio. Editing now is not nearly as quick and smooth as it was in 7.4. How is this possible? There must be a way to fix this. Has anyone else encountered this? These are my computers specs:

Hardware Overview:

Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro1,1
Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 2
Total Number Of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
Memory: 8 GB
Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz
Boot ROM Version: MP11.005C.B08
SMC Version (system): 1.7f10
Hardware UUID: 00000000-0000-1000-8000-0017F20AB506

PLEASE HELP!
Thanks you.

Yup. It does that for me too.

It is sad.

Have been eagerly awaiting a fix. But I doubt it will ever happen.

I've got a dual quad that does the same as well.

I've experienced the blinking waveforms, but not during scrolling. It's happened recording and playing back. Currently on 9.0.2

Also related visual problem. Happens every 10 minutes or so while working in timeline:

Entire EDL appears highlighted (as if doing "select all") and placing selector in another location will not change this.

I've discovered that toggling the zoom key will get me back to normal (e. g.: press command-[ one time and the display will return to normal behavior) This occurrence is so common that I reflexively toggle the zoom key, and it doesn't break my flow.

Seems like it may be related to your situation.

9.0.2

Macpro 2008
10.6.6
