projects/files renaming/moving
I've searched, I've read, I tried ... but the Workspace / file management in ProToold remains a mystery to me
if I want to create a new directory, for instance, and move (and perhaps rename) a project there, or rename a file, or a template ........... how can it be done? doesn't seem possible in Workspace, and if I do it outside of ProTools (with it running? or not?) in the Windows Explorer - does that then completely confuse ProTools when opening the renamed directories/files? or is that the place to do it? Help! Thanks.

Re: projects/files renaming/moving
You can rename a session folder from Windows Explorer without confusing PT(it looks for the session file itself and not the session folder, and the session file is INSIDE the session folder). For other "housekeeping", I would open a session and use Save Session Copy>check the box for "copy all audio files" and give it a new destination and name. Or start with Save As and give the session file a new name first, then reopen under the new session name and run the Save Session Copy as described. Getting your head around this may seem daunting at first(it was to me and I screwed up plenty) but it will start to make sense pretty quick.

Re: projects/files renaming/moving
thanks, but ..
are you saying only folders can be renamed in WE? if I rename (in WE) a session (.ptf) file and/or as well some of the audio files - that would then be a problem?

Re: projects/files renaming/moving
I rename .ptf files but you should do a save as. Audio files?.. no. Do that in PT and consolidate. House keeping is not something to figure out in a day. Be patient, there are a lot of angles to this. You can wind up hurt bad.
