Make iTunes able to play in or while PT is running

Hey dopamine...Im running into the same problem. I get audio IN to pro tools via optical in, but I get the clicks and pops... The clock source is greyed out in Audio midi ...

Did you ever solve this...How?

the frequency needs to be the same as your PT session 44.1 or 48 etc, you should be able to set this in the AMS.

What frequency is your pt session? on older macs the audio would only stream at 44.1 and 48 in the new macs it works up to 96k

My pro tools session is at 48k, my bit depth is 16...

In audio midi setup under digital output I have the settings also at 48/16

Clicks and pops are still there

(Im running a newer mac pro)

Have you got digital cables connected both ways from mac to 192 and 192 back to the mac?

i simply have cables both ways. same frequency and bit rate set in the AMS and the 192 set to internal clock. that should be it.

Go out and buy a Hosa Optical to AES/EBU convertor connect via AES/EBU (not the chassis but on the 25 PIN Digital I/O) inputs use real time SR convert. That should work

I thought 192 converted adat as well as aes as long as it's connected to the digital card and not the internal connector. Is that wrong?

im still not sure why I cannot access the clock source in audio midi setup on my mac. If i was able to clock off the adat (coming from the 192) this would solve all my problems... It seems like the mac and the 192 are both running off their own internal clocks which is causing the clicks. If the mac has that option (its just greyed out) there must be a way to access it...

Isnt word clock embedded in an Adat signal ? ...

i really wish someone at Digi could figure out how to get itunes to play while PT is open. Simultaneous apps sharing the 192 Output would be HUGE!
