Default Save Copy In Vs Export

Hey everyone,
Apart from the available options, is there any significant difference between copying a session (Save Copy In) and exporting all tracks in the session as a new session? Or importing all tracks into a newly created session?

Exporting a track obviously only delivers audio, not any session data such as plugins used.

Not true at all. Look up Export Selected Tracks as New Session.

To the OP.. there is virtually no difference when using for an entire session. . It’s just a matter of what you need for each operation when you don’t need the entire session.

Well exporting selected tracks wouldn’t include unused media in the bin. So that's the main difference.

They are essentially the same and bring up the exact same export dialog; "Export Selected..." checks the "Selected Tracks Only" box in the dialog for you, but really, they're the same thing if you set all parameters in the export dialog the same.

I think people in this thread are confusing the menu item "Export.." with the "Export Selected" shortcut Command+Shift+K, which are two different things.

The menu item just takes you to "Save Copy In" if you choose to export as a session.

The shortcut will just export the selected clips and nothing else.

Thanks. That is something I know more or less, but I'm asking because I haven't really RTFM

Thanks for that. Whereas 'Copy In' would include everything...

So "Export Selected as Session" is essentially the same as "Save Copy In"? Of course, one would need to select everything for the two to be the same.

I don't see anyone confusing those. We're all talking about the file menu command. Except I think Janne might have been thinking of Bounce.
