If Main is selected, then MON L-R outputs would be attenuated. To clarify, is that the case and you're still getting very loud noise when using the "Test" button in AMS? Or, is that test noise now being emitted at a normal volume?

And, does monitoring control seem to be working ok in Pro Tools as well as other applications?

Thanks.

The problem, user , occurs when i had protools "aggregate" selected instead of "reserved for protools selected in audio midi setup, entirely my fault

Ahh, I see. If you do need to aggregate Carbon with another device, then only aggregate the "I/O" device and not the "Reserved..." device as shown in your screenshot. The "Reserved..." device should only be used by itself in Pro Tools. That said, we didn't test aggregation of the "I/O" device much so your experience may vary.

Hope that helps.

Sure. You can find the Carbon guide here. Pro Tools setup is covered on pages 18-24 (sounds like you've got that going though). And, DSP Mode (using DSP plugins and recording) is covered pages on 25-35.

Additionally, there are a number of helpful videos here. For recording and using DSP plugins, I'd focus on these:
Introducing Hybrid Engine
Recording Basics
Advanced Workflows
